I’ve seen lots of bloggers and booktubers doing the Mid-Year Freakout tag and thought it would be fun to join in.
I first saw it on Susana’s blog, and you can check out her post here.
Let’s get started!
Best book you’ve read so far this year
This is a very tough question! I can’t say just one, so I’ll list a few that I’ve read this year that I loved: The Ice Queen by Alice Hoffman, The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman, The Witching Tree by Alice Blanchard, The Crossing Places (Ruth Galloway #1) by Elly Griffiths, A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams.
Best sequel you’ve read so far this year
The Book of Magic by Alice Hoffman. Technically it’s a prequel, but since it was published after Practical Magic and I prefer to read books in publication order, that makes it a sequel to me π
New release you haven’t read yet from this year, but you want to
The Stand-In by Lily Chu. This was highly recommended to me by a friend and I hope to read it soon.
Most anticipated release for the second half of 2022
The Ink Black Heart (Cormoran Strike #6) by Robert Galbraith. I will be dropping everything to read this as soon as it comes out on August 30.
Biggest disappointment this year
I don’t want to say! But if you read between the lines in some of my reviews you might be able to guess.
Biggest surprise this year
Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree. I don’t read much fantasy but after seeing so many positive reviews of this book I just had to give it a try. It was such a great read!
Favorite new author
Beatriz Williams. I recently read A Hundred Summers and absolutely loved it.
Newest fictional crush
I’m not sure I have found one yet! Stay tuned.
Newest favorite character
This would have to be Ruth Galloway from the series of the same name by Elly Griffiths. I can’t wait to see what happens with her in future books.
Book that made you cry this year
Nothing has made me cry this year so far.
Book that made you happy this year
My Italian Bulldozer by Alexander McCall Smith was a particularly enjoyable and downright happy read.
Most beautiful book you’ve bought or received this year
The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman has one of the most stunning and memorable covers ever…
What do you need to read by the end of this year?
There are so many books I hope to read by the end of the year. A few include The Janus Stone (Ruth Galloway #2) by Elly Griffiths, Blue Diary by Alice Hoffman, and The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren to name a few.
That’s it for now. I loved this tag even though it took me a while to come up with the answers!
I just did mine too, great post π
