Hello bookworms!

Back in January I mentioned that I would be doing the Goodreads Reading Challenge, the 2021 PopSugar Reading Challenge, and the 50 States Book Challenge.

Here are my final totals for this year…

Goodreads Reading Challenge

Goal: 50 books

PopSugar Reading Challenge:

Prompts Completed 16

  • A book by an author who shares your zodiac sign: Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
  • A book with something broke on the cover: Far Gone by Laura Griffin
  • A magical realsim book: Pashmina by Nidhi Chanani
  • A book that has fewer than 1,000 reviews on Amazon or Goodreads: Glimmer as You Can by Danielle Martin
  • Your favorite prompt from a past PopSugar Reading Challenge (I chose A book by two female authors): Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
  • A DNF book from your TBR list: Searching for Sylvie Lee by Jean Kwok

Second Half of the Year:

  • A book with a gem, mineral, or rock in the title: Whispering Rock (Virgin River #3) by Robyn Carr
  • A bestseller from the 1990s: Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman
  • A locked-room mystery: An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena

  • A book featuring three generations (grandparent, parent, child): Blackbird House by Alice Hoffman
  • A book about a social justice issue: Love is a Revolution by Renee Watson
  • A book in a different format than what you normally read (audiobooks, ebooks, graphic novels): A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle on audiobook through Libby
  • A book about art or an artist: Wait for It by Jenn McKinlay
  • A gifted book from your TBR: Luckenbooth by Jenni Fagan

50 States Book Challenge

States Completed: 12

  • California: Virgin River series (ongoing) by Robyn Carr
  • Illinois: Rent a Boyfriend by Gloria Chao (partially takes place in Chicago)
  • Maryland: Well Met by Jen DeLuca
  • Massachusetts: Paris is Always a Good Idea by Jenn McKinlay (partially takes place in Boston)
  • New Jersey: The Stranger by Harlan Coben
  • New York: Nikki Heat series (ongoing) by Richard Castle

  • Texas: Stone Cold Heart (Tracers #13) by Laura Griffin
  • Washington: J.P. Beaumont series (ongoing) by J.A. Jance

Overall I think I did pretty well with these challenges. My goal was never to read in order to complete the prompts, but to use each one as inspiration when choosing books.

Did you attempt any reading challenges this year? How did it turn out? Tell me in the comments!
