Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This week’s topic is Super Long Book Titles.
Here’s a few I came up with…

- So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish by Douglas Adams
- The Elephants of Style: A Trunkload of Tips on the Big Issues and Gray Areas of Contemporary American English by Bill Walsh
- Applications of Social Research Methods to Questions in Information and Library Science by Barbara M. Wildemuth
- The Man Who Loved China: The Fantastic Story of the Eccentric Scientist Who Unlocked the Mysteries of the Middle Kingdom by Simon Winchester
- The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary by Simon Winchester
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling (and every other Harry Potter novel, really)
- Now You Take “Bambi” or “Snow White” and That’s Scary by Stephen King (technically an essay but still!)
I have to say, I prefer shorter book titles, even one-word titles, to super long ones š

That first one is so long. When I talk about it I always shorten it up and leave out words. Like Potato Peel Society. Nice list.

You came up with a great list of long titles this week! I should’ve thought to use essay titles too, those subtitles can add a handful of words too.

Thanks! I definitely realized about halfway through my list that the non-fiction titles tend to be longer than fiction and I should have gone with those from the start! )

I really liked ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ but I haven’t read most of the others. My mom is a huge English language nerd so I bet she’d enjoy ‘The Elephants of Style’ and maybe ‘The Professor and the Madman.’ š
