Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s topic is a freebie, so I’m doing Halloween Reads.

I’m typically not a seasonal reader but this year I couldn’t help but gravitate towards some themed reads. This time of year has me craving books that fall under the spooky, thriller, horror, and crime genres. Here’s some titles I recently read that fall into those categories…

  1. Unforgivable by Laura Griffin (crime)
  2. The Okay Witch by Emma Steinkellner (Halloween, witches)
  3. The Ex by Alafair Burke (mystery, crime)
  4. Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell (Halloween, fall)
  5. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (classic horror)
  6. Suil a Run or The Girl from The Other Side by Nagabi (spooky, supernatural)
  7. The Penguin Book of Witches by Katherine Howe (academic, history of witches)
  8. Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction by Lisa Kroger and Melanie R. Anderson (academic, history of classic literature)
  9. In the Shadow of Edgar Allan Poe: Classic Tales of Horror 18-16-1914 edited by Leslie S. Klinger (anthology of classic horror)
  10. Under the Moon: A Catwoman Tale by Lauren Miracle Illustrated by Isaac Goodhart (spooky setting, dark graphic novel)

What topic did you choose for the freebie this week? Tell me in the comments or drop a link to your Top Ten Tuesday post so I can check it out!
