First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words.
What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page. Copy the first few lines but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet.
Finally, reveal the book.
Here we go!
“Tell people one true thing before you tell them a lie. Then it will be easier for them to believe the lie.
It wasn’t the best advice Marty Walsh ever gave to his daughter Charlotte, but it had stuck with her for almost forty years.”
These first lines come from none other than…
Charlotte Walsh Likes to Win by Jo Piazza.
I recently finished reading this fantastic book and I’ll be posting my review of it next week.
What are you currently reading? Have a great weekend everyone! 🙂
