Total Cat Mojo
It is no surprise, then, that this book caught my eye recently: Total Cat Mojo: The Ultimate Guide to Life With Your Cat by Jackson Galaxy with Mikel Delgado and Bobby Rock. As someone with a deep interest in animal-related books, I found this to be an extremely compelling read. Anyone who has ever sought out a cat-training or dog-training book just out of curiosity will likely share this sentiment.
Galaxy starts with defining what the “Raw Cat” means – it is essentially the “ancestral twin” of your cat. Raw Cat behavior is best exemplified when your cat starts pouncing on your feet in the middle of the night and mimicking hunter behavior. A cat’s “biological imperative” includes the following: hunt, catch, kill, eat, groom, sleep. Galaxy says:
“When we create a rhythm that mirrors that of the Raw Cat – the ancestor – we’re there. When cats are at home inside their bodies, they can make the space outside their bodies their home as well.”
There is so much more in this book than I can fit in the space of a rapid review. In fact, I checked this book out from the library but I might just buy my own copy so I can go back and spend more time on some of these chapters. This book is a great resource for any prospective cat owners, as well as all you cat-lovers out there.
