I loved Rupi Kaur’s book of poetry, The Sun and Her Flowers. I was already familiar with Kaur’s writing thanks to Instagram, and her work spoke to me enough that I sought out this book to read more.
Her poems are so deep; often the shortest poems are the most arresting. They fall into five categories, divided up like chapters: wilting, falling, rooting, rising and blooming. Kaur is well-attuned to the immense range of emotions and thoughts surrounding the human experience. Each poem is so personal and yet I somehow related to so many of them. Themes center on love and being loved, growth and looking back on the past, and self-acceptance.
If you are looking to read some poetry but not sure where to start, I cannot recommend this book enough.
