Benefit (Mini) Beauty Haul

Around my birthday I did a mini shopping haul online one morning before work, as one does. You kind of have to what with everyone sending you those special birthday deals and coupons in the mail and via email, right? Especially when the goodies expire at the end of your birthday month and you have no choice but to shop. Right. Now.

Here’s what I got from Benefit:

Bang! Bad Gal Mascara. I mean, I can’t think of anything better to give you a confidence boost in the morning before work, can you? The brush isn’t as intense as the outside, and it’s surprisingly good mascara. I would really recommend this one to anyone shopping around for new mascaras.

Boing! Hydrating Concealer (formerly known as Fake Up). I used the same tube of Fake Up for close to two years, if that gives you any idea of how long these last. So long in fact that by the time I went to buy a new one they had completely changed the packaging and I couldn’t even find it in Sephora! I had to go online, hence this little spree.

This concealer does amazing things when applied underneath your eyes; blend it in with your fingers, working upwards. Your eyes and the skin just underneath instantly look brighter and rejuvenated. This is one of my all-time favorite products, hands down.

Ooh La Lift is an under-eye brightening boost. This is to replace my Bare Minerals Stroke of Light. I would have purchased it again, but couldn’t find it last time I was out and so decided to shop around for something different. But so far, this one is easily comparable so it’s all good.

The three above purchases got me the two free gifts below:

Watt’s Up! highlighter for face. I only tried this once so far and here is my one and only tip: don’t apply it five minutes before you leave the house – it has an orange glow that you might not notice until you’re in the bathroom at work thinking “oh that’s cute (not).”

Travel Bag. Is it just me or does Benefit always have the most random bags ever? Don’t get me wrong, I love how quirky they tend to be, and since I have a modest collection of cosmetics bags I am always happy to add one more.

Advertised online, this looked like a standard multi-colored confetti print on the bottom half of the bag. It’s actually a gel-type thing with liquid, and the confetti floats around as you move the bag. What do you think TSA will make of that?
