The Best Primers

In the Prime(r)

Primer is one of those things I don’t use all the time because it doesn’t really hurt or help my makeup routine. But I’ve tried quite a few primers over the last year, either from samples or just buying them on my own to see what was up, and I wanted to review a couple here.

Words for Everything Smashbox Primer

Smashbox primer has been the most disappointing so far, unfortunately! The photo finish primer wasn’t too bad, but it felt especially thick. The good thing about that is that a little bit goes a long way. The radiance foundation primer actually has some color to it, which I didn’t care for. It didn’t go with my foundation, and the overall look just didn’t blend well (the main reason I don’t do BB or CC creams).

Words for Everything e.l.f primer

Elf has the best primer by far, and a huge selection for all kinds of skin types. Above are the three I have tried and had the best results with. The poreless primer does a great job of hiding pores, the hydrating primers is soooo smooth and nice, and the illuminating primer makes you look more awake and gives a brightening effect. My favorite has to be the hydrating primer. They are also really cheap which is even better!

Too Faced Hangover Rx Replenishing Face Primer smells like coconut and goes on fairly smoothly, but it always leaves my face feeling a little sticky. Maybe that’s the point for keeping your makeup on, but it’s not as hydrating as I tend to prefer primers to be. I also really don’t care for the coconut smell. Definitely not my favorite.

What About You?

Do you use primer? I usually use it on the weekends when I have more time to get ready otherwise I stick to moisturizers only.
