Happy September! 🙂 I’ve officially started a bullet journal. Today kicks off my three-month bullet journal journey experiment as I test out some of the theories of bullet journaling to see if all the hype is true. I spent the last week or so looking for a suitable journal, planning my weekly and monthly layouts, and getting this bad boy as Instagram-worthy as possible. Did it work?
In the pictures below you’ll see that each page has been numbered, and I created an index for the first page and drew up a six month calendar for long-term planning.
I resisted the urge to buy a Moleskine notebook and decided to go with a Rifle Paper Co. notebook that I already had. It’s about 65 pages total and wide ruled. (They come in a three pack if you are interested in buying your own).
I don’t anticipate using the symbol method of keeping track of tasks, but have as of now employed a color-coded method (thanks to a new pack of multi-colored pens).
- Green = work and work related tasks. (Green like money, get it?).
- Blue = miscellaneous tasks and errands. (Blue like blue collar…)
- Purple = fun things that I’m looking forward to. (Because purple is the best color, duh).
- Black = appointments and things that I’m not-so-looking forward to (.ie., dentist).
- Pink = fun personal stuff like date nights or weekend trips. (Because I can’t very well assign anything serious to pink).
What I plan to include on my weekly logs (as of now): reading list of what I’m currently reading and what’s on my TBR, a notes space for blog planning and general ideas, and a weekly gratitude list which I am already in love with. At first I thought that making a ten item gratitude list would be too much but it’s actually been way easier than I thought it would be, which is a good sign already.

So it’s not a very type-A bullet journal aside from the color coding, it’s actually a bit bare since I am just starting to fill it in. Stay tuned in the coming months to see how it goes. I’ll be posting more updates between now and December.

When they say that writers shld ALWAYS carry a journal w them, I wholeheartedly concur.
Most of my best ideas come when I least expect them to, but there comes times when Posts like this:

I agree! I’ve always kept a journal, just never one like this. We’ll see where it leads me!
